Sad outcome for Clara today

So, another one of our senior sanctuary girls, Clara, was scheduled today for a dental and her cancer ears removed. Being white she was always prone to sunburn and it just got worse over time. She lived in the outdoor enclosure for most of her life, after being rescued from a Sydney pound, having missed the adoption boat many years ago and her timid/hissy nature didn’t win her any “brownie points”.

Upon examination while she was under sedation it was found the actual reason for her foul breath and tooth loss was a tumour at the back of her mouth not actual bad teeth. So, the vet suggested the kindest thing for her would be euthanasia. Her pain, though often hidden, must have been awful for her though she never missed her meals. R.I.P Clara I’m glad I got to spend all those treasured years knowing you and your kittens (who were all adopted at a young age). Another mum that got left behind.

Young Clara at Old Bar a few years after she was first rescued and all her kittens were adopted. Rest well pretty girl. No more pain
